The Menasha Joint School District has a full time vacancy for a Bus Transportation Paraprofessional to assist special education students with riding the bus to and from school each day.
Position hours are approximately 7:
15-8:
30am on M-W-F; 7:
15-9:
30am on T-Th; 10:
15am-1:
00pm M-F; and 2:
15-4:
45pm M-F for approximately 7.
50 hours per day.
Our Bus Transportation Paraprofessionals work during the school year term for approximately 9 months beginning in late August through the first week in June.
This position is benefit eligible.
The screening and interviewing of applicants will begin immediately with this position available until filled by a quality applicant.
Essential Functions Assists bus driver for the purpose of handling emergency situations until the driver can take over.
Assists special education students and other passengers for the purpose of providing safe loading and unloading from buses during normal transport and emergency situations.
Monitors students with special needs until released to teacher, instructional assistant, parent, etc.
for the purpose of ensuring the safe transportation of all passengers.
Prepares reports (e.
g.
seating chart of assigned riders, incident reports, passenger misconduct, etc.
) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference, conveying information, and/or complying with established guidelines.
Reports observations and/or incidents (e.
g.
discipline, accidents, inappropriate social behavior, etc.
) for the purpose of communicating information to appropriate personnel for their action.
Secures students and/or their equipment (e.
g.
restraints, checks wheel chair tie downs, seat belts, opens ramp, etc.
) for the purpose of ensuring the safety and well-being of students.
Ability to maintain confidential information and maintain high level of ethical standards.
Individual should display a pleasant personality and disposition, positive attitude, and ability to communicate with people.
Manage and cope with physically and/or verbally aggressive student behaviors Work with multiple supervisors Other Functions Attends in meetings, in-service training, workshops, etc.
